Director of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed has appealed for collective efforts in the search of missing Corps Member, Yahaya Farouk.

Caroline Embu, the NYSC’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations disclosed this in a statement signed on Tuesday.

During his visit to residents of Ikuru town, in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, which is the host community of the missing Corps Member, General Ahmed urged the youths and elders of the community to assist the security agencies in searching for the Corps Member.

He harped that his administration would continue to appeal for adequate security and welfare of Corps Members at all times.

He said that it was also the responsibility of residents of Corps Members’ host communities to provide security and welfare package for Corps Members serving in their domain.

He said: “The essence of my coming is to appeal to assist us in getting the Corps Member who came for National Service from another State”.

General Ahmed during his visit to the community also visited the scene of the unfortunate incident.

In their separate responses to the Director General’s request, the Youth President, Mr Etete Jerb Anthony and the Ward Secretary, Mr Paul Friday said the community had tried immensely to find the Corps Member, Yahaya who got missing while at a Chinese Mining Company within the community.

They therefore promised that search and rescue efforts were still ongoing.
