The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (KWASEMA), has conducted a joint on-the-spot assessment following the recent bandits’ attack on Woro and Nuku Communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

    Manzo Ezekiel, Head of NEMA’s
Press Unit, Abuja disclosed this in a statement signed on Monday.

The assessment was carried out with the aim of determining the extent of damage and identifying the immediate humanitarian needs of affected persons in the communities.

NEMA had earlier delivered some relief items to support the immediate efforts of the Kwara State Government in alleviating the condition of affected persons. The relief materials were received on behalf of the State Government by the Executive Secretary of KWASEMA, Mr. Moshood Mogaji.

The NEMA team from the Minna Operations Office was led by the Head of Operations, Mr. Hussaini Isah, while the KWASEMA team was led by its Executive Secretary, Mr. Moshood Mogaji.

Upon arrival in Kaiama LGA, the joint team paid a courtesy visit to the Kaiama Local Government Secretariat, where they were received by the Executive Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna.

The team also visited the Kaiama Emirate Council and commiserated with the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Omar, through the Wazirin Kaiama, Alhaji Adamu Gene, to obtain preliminary information on the incident and its impact.

The team further engaged with community leaders, including the traditional leader of Woro Community, Alhaji Umar Bio Salihu, who provided insights into the impact of the attack on residents and the urgent needs of affected households.

The assessment was conducted in conjunction with KWASEMA and the cooperation of community leaders, other government officials, and security agencies.
