The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) North Central Zonal Office, Jos on Tuesday 17th September 2024 delivered relief materials to the parents and guardans of the victims of July 12th 2024 Saints Academy School building collapse, in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Delivering the items, the Director General of the agency Mrs. Zubaida Umar said the relief materials were meant to provide succur to the parents and guardans of the victims.
The DG who was represented by the North Central Zonal Coordinator, Mr Eugene Nyelong said that when the incident occurred, the agency activated all critical stakeholder and search and rescue operations commenced immediately and all the trapped victims were evacuated to different hospitals.
Receiving the items on behalf of the the parents and guardians, Mr Macben Onye, the Parents-Teachers’ Association (PTA) Chairman of the school appreciated NEMA for the relief materials and noted that it would provide relief to the parents/guardians.
Mr Sabiyu Mohammed, one of the beneficiaries who lost his son in the incidence thanked NEMA and admonished the people to give thanks to God in whatever situation they found themselves.
The relief materials for 41 households was basically food items and was directly distributed to the victims at the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency’s office (PLASEMA).
The following stakeholders were in attendance: The Red Cross, Federal Fire Service, Plateau State Emergency Agency Management, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps and the media.
