In compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, to combat crime decisively, the Nasarawa State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough with the recovery of two stolen vehicles.

    SP Ramhan Nansel, the
Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Command disclosed this in a statement signed for the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed.

On March 17, 2026, at about 0426hrs, a distress call was received from the Control Room indicating that a black Toyota Prado SUV with registration number YAB 81 KC (Abuja) had been stolen in Abuja and was suspected to be heading towards Lafia.

Upon receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, swiftly deployed operatives attached to ‘A’ Division, Lafia, reinforced by personnel from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Operation Nasara.

The team successfully recovered the vehicle along a street near Izallah Mosque in Mararaba Akunza area of Lafia.

A thorough search of the surrounding area conducted but the suspects have fled. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect(s).

Similarly, on March 16, 2026, at about 1420hrs, following credible intelligence that some unidentified young men were in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle at Aso B area, near Assemblies of God Church, Mararaba, Karu LGA.

Police operatives attached to Aso Pada Division promptly mobilized to the scene. Upon sighting the officers, the suspects fled.

Consequently, one silver Pontiac Vibe without a registration number was recovered and taken to the station.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a number plate (NBB-52 TT, Nasarawa), suspected to belong to the vehicle, a Nigerian Correctional Service beret, and photocopies of documents believed to be related to the vehicle.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle had earlier been reported stolen on March 11, 2025.

In view of the foregoing, the Commissioner of Police urges members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities and cases to the nearest police station.

He further assures that the Command remains resolute and will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that all perpetrators are brought to justice.
