    Nasarawa Police Arrests 19 Suspects, Recover 3 Firearms, 11 Ammunition

    The Police Command in Nasarawa State on Thursday, reeled out the recent achievements recorded under the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba against criminals.

    At the press briefing presented by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Nasarawa State Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba, 10 suspected kidnappers, seven armed robbery and one cult suspects were arrested totalling 19.

    While one person was arrested for other offences, the Police recovered three firearms and 11 ammunition.

    A breakdown of the anti-crime achievements is as follows:

    ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND RESCUE OF VICTIM

    On 13/08/2023 at about 15:30 hours, one Adamu Abdullahi ‘M’ of Orange Market Mararaba, Karu LGA reported that his 2 years old son has been missing for two weeks and all effort to trace his where about proved abortive.

    However, on same date, he received a call from an unknown person demanding a ransom of two million, five hundred thousand naira (#2,500,000.00).

    Upon receipt of the report, a team of detectives were deployed to go after the abductors.

    Consequently, the following suspects, namely Abubakar Saidu, 38 years, Yusuf Yusuf, 23 years, and Haruna Garba, 50 years, all males of Orange Market were arrested in connection to the crime.

    Upon interrogation, Abubakar Saidu (a neighbor to the complainant) confessed to have conspired with the above mentioned suspects to kidnap the 2 years old child and handed him to one Salamatu Abubakar (his wife) who took the child to Katsina State.

    She was also trailed and arrested, and the child rescued and re-united with his parents.

    ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND RECOVERY OF FIRE ARMS

    On 31/07/2023 at about 07: 00 hours, information was received by Police detectives of the State Intelligence Bureau that a group of armed robbers/Kidnappers had concluded arrangement to kidnap a businessman in Awe LGA of Nasarawa State.

    Reacting to the intelligence, the detectives launched a manhunt for the criminals and got the following suspects arrested, namely: Domo Doga, 27 years, Joseph Emmanuel, 28 years, Andrew Maikasuwa, 23 years and Lucky Amos, 25 years.

    A search warrant was executed in their hideout where one locally fabricated pistol and one live ammunition were recovered from them as exhibits.

    The suspects have confessed to the crime and further said to be responsible for some armed robbery and motorcycle snatching along Awe-Borkono road.

    ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND RECOVERY OF FIRE ARMS

    On 29/07/2023, information at the disposal of the Command revealed that two unknown persons were heard discussing having a shortage of ammunition and the need to purchase more.

    Upon receipt of the information, Police operatives attached to Gitata Division swung into action and got one Bawa Adamu, 35 years of Agwan Ayaba, Karu LGA, and Amadu Buba, 25 years of Kaduna State.

    One locally fabricated gun was recovered from the suspects as exhibit.

    ARREST OF SUSPECTED CRIMINAL AND RECOVERY OF FIREARM

    On 18/08/2023 at about 08:00 hours, Mobile Police operatives attached to 58PMF Lafia, on special duty at Gidan rai, Doma LGA; acting based on credible information, arrested one Umar Kurmi, 25 years and conducted a systematic search on him.

    Consequently, one AK49 rifle and magazine loaded with four rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were recovered from the suspect as exhibits.

    Investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia.

    ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT AND RECOVERY OF FIRE ARM

    On 16/07/2023 at about 04: 55 hours, Police personnel attached to Masaka Division while on Patrol at Nyanya Gwandara road, sighted one Manu Abdullahi of Tipper garage, Nyanya Gwandara carrying a Ghana-Most- Go bag.

    Upon reasonable suspicion, he was arrested and a search was conducted on him where one locally fabricated gun, six rounds of live ammunition and nineteen (19) pieces of wrappers of different brands were recovered from the suspect as exhibits.

    ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER

    On 05/05/2023 at about 01: 30 hours while on Anti-crime patrol along Ombi2, Lafia, Men of the Command’s Anti-kidnapping observed the nocturnal movement of one Yakubu Shuaibu, 27 years and got him arrested.

    When a search was conducted on him, one wooden fabricated pistol, a knife and face mask, were recovered from the suspect as exhibit.

    He has made useful statements, and investigation is ongoing.

    ARREST OF A NOTORIUS CULTIST

    On 23/08/2023 at about 12:30 hours, acting based on credible information, Police Detectives attached to ‘A Division Lafia arrested one Adamu Zakari, 21 years aka Ozil of Black Axe of Tudun Kauri, Lafia, for causing grievous hurt on one Suleiman Musa ‘M’ of same address, who is currently receiving medical attention.

    The suspect has been on the wanted list of the Command for initiating young boys.

    The suspect will be charged to court for prosecution upon the conclusion of the investigation.

    ARREST OF ARMED ROBBRY SUSPECTS

    On 26/07/2023 at about 01:52 hours, a complaint was lodged by some residents of Karshi that, hoodlums numbering about 10 armed with cutlasses invaded a residence and carted away their valuables and injured some people in the process.

    Upon receipt of the complaint, Police operatives attached to Karshi Division carried out extensive investigation into the case which led to the arrest of five of the suspects namely: Jamilu Aliyu, Ibrahim Sabi, Abubakar Shehu, Suleiman Adamu and Yusuf Abdulrasheed.

    The suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime while effort is ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate that are at large.
