In a quest to sustain the fight in curbing criminality, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Salihu Mohammed Alkali has vowed to support the Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force in crime fighting and intelligence gathering.

Shuaibu Usman, Special Adviser to the Chairman on Media & Strategy disclosed this in a statement signed on Tuesday.

Alkali made this known during a courtesy visit to the new commissioner of police in the state, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, at the command’s headquarters, in Lafia Tuesday.

Leading the state executive council of the union, Alkali said the police have been partners in progress to the NUJ in the state, recalling the fruitful partnership that existed between the duo under past administrations.

He commended the police for its responsiveness and preparedness in bursting crimes and criminality, disclosing that the NUJ would sustain its intelligence gathering and provision mandates to the police in order to contain nefarious activities for a crime-free society.

He called on the Police to remain resilient in crime fighting and friendly to journalists in the state to usher in a new chapter of safety and security, acknowledging the command’s police public relations mechanisms which have assisted in the partnership with other relevant organisations that are ready to deliver in ensuring professional and efficient policing.

CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, reaffirmed the command’s determination to work effectively in fighting insecurity, noting that the police cannot work without the press.

Mohammed said no society is free from crimes, restating that in spite of the challenges in policing, the command has sustained its positive impact in ensuring professional service delivery for residents of the state to sleep with their eyes closed.

He sought for enhanced media cooperation to end crimes and criminality.
