The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba on Wednesday, conducted a groundbreaking ceremony of Police Officers Quarters at Zone 6, Wuse, Abuja.
A statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer, (FPRO) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the Police boss was accompanied by members of the Force Management Team.
The event marked the commencement of construction works at the project site.
It was attended by Senior Police Officers and other dignitaries drawn from all walks of life.
The project which is being coordinated and managed by Nigeria Police Force under the auspices of the Nigeria Police Properties Limited.
It is expected to cover an area of 4.5 hectares and comprise 50 terraces of bungalows, a clubhouse, and a state-of-the-art sports complex amongst others with modern facilities and structures.
The Inspector-General of Police said he was committed to the welfare of Police Officers .
IGP Baba said he desired for his administration to create a Police Force with suitable accommodations for its personnel.
He said that various large-scale barrack projects were currently underway and would continue to be implemented under his leadership.
