Directed by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Maiyaki Baba on Friday, presented cheques worth sixty one million, twenty two thousand and sixty three naira, sixty nine kobo to families of deceased Police officers/officers who sustained injuries in the course of discharging their duties.
A statement signed by the Nasarawa Command’s PPRO, DSP Ramhan Nansel said that the IGP urged them to judiciously use the money to improve the lives of their families.
The CP presented cheques worth sixty one million, twenty two thousand, sixty three naira, sixty nine kobo (N61, 022, 063, 69) to one hundred and six (106) families of Police operatives who died while in active service.
The PPRO said the gesture was an initiative of the Inspector-General of Police IGP Family welfare scheme, Group Personal Accident and Group Life Assurance.
He said the scheme aimed at improving the living standards of families of Police operatives who lost their lives in the line of duty and Police personnel who sustained varying degrees of injuries in the course of the discharge of their duties.
Presenting the cheques, the Commissioner of Police sympathised with the beneficiaries and appreciated the Inspector-General of Police for his love, service to humanity and his contribution to support the families of officers who died in active service and officers who sustained injury as a result of accident in the course of discharging their duty.
He urged them to use the token judiciously to care for the families left behind and for the improvement of their health.
