Senator Shehu Sani has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari for inaugurating a multi billion Naira clinic which only the elites in the corridors of power could afford.
Sani said that those elite were the ones using public funds.
He described Muhammadu Buhari as a President brought to power by the votes, sweat and blood of the poor who was rounding up his tenure serving the very elite class he was once disgusted with.
Senator Shehu Sani said this on his Twitter handle, @ShehuSani.
@ShehuSani wrote: “At the time the Nigerian Resident Doctors issued a strike notice, the President is inaugurating a multi billion Naira Clinic for elites within the corridors of power, using public funds. A President brought to power by the votes, sweat and blood of the poor. He is rounding up his tenure in the service of the very elite class he once loathed. If he were in the opposition, this Clinic is one issue he will speak against for the applause of the Northern Talakawa.”
The National Association of Resident Doctors, (NARD) had on April 29, 2023, issued a two-week ultimatum to the federal government to meet its demands or face industrial disharmony.
Following the failure of the federal government to meet its demands, NARD on Wednesday, began a five-day warning strike.
The doctors said the strike would start at 8am on Wednesday, May 17, to end at 8am on Monday, May 22.
This was the decision reached after
its six and a half hours Extraordinary National Executive Council meeting of the association held virtually on Monday.
Meanwhile, as the Resident Doctors strike entered the second day, President Muhammadu Buhari was billed to commission the Presidential/VIP wing of the multi billion Naira State House Medical Centre on Friday.
The clinic project alleged to cost N21 billion was meant to stop foreign medical trips by government officials.
This information was confirmed in a statement signed by the State House Director of Information, Abiodun Oladunjoye.
He described the project as demonstrating the Buhari administration’s commitment to advancing healthcare management.
