Students from several schools in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) Abuja were brought together on Friday in a healthy book review competition organized by the Coordinator of ‘Book The Kids Again’ initiative, Mr Goodluck Godwin Hayi.

This was at the official launch of the project, ‘Book The Kids Again’ which held at the Aduvie Event Centre in Jahi, Abuja.

The competition was aimed at testing the students’ understanding of the books they had been assigned to read.

Participating schools included Aduvie international School, The Hillside School, Stella Maris College and Olumawu College in Abuja.

The students excitedly participated in the book reviews after which Awards were given to the winners of the competition, The hillside school which took first position.

‘Book The Kids Again’ is an initiative by Goodluck Godwin Hayi, aimed to combat the declining reading culture among children, and boosting their reading culture in a digital era.

Mr Goodluck Hayi said: “The idea is not just to make children flip through books but to also read the books and fully understand them and to be able to apply what they learned in the books to their lives.”

Also speaking, Mr. Eldad Onojetah urged government to support the project by making books available and affordable to the children.

Onojetah said: “Make books available, affordable and then the kids will be able to read them.”

The event coincided with the birthday celebration of Mr Goodluck Godwin Hayi, who turned a golden 50 years.
