The barricade connecting Goodluck Jonathan Expressway with Ring Road 11 at Galadimawa Interchange has been removed.
The slip road was barricaded on July 1st, this year at the peak of the rainy season.
Speaking at the removal of the barricade, the Ag Director General of FEMD Engr Abdulrahman Mohammed explained that the road has been reopened following the cessation cessation of the rainy season.
Represented by the Head of the department of Forecasting Response and Mitigation, Mr Mark Nyam, Abdulrahman informed that the barricade was to restrict vehicular movement due to recurring flooding on the road.
“This yearly ritual is very small but mighty because it goes a long way to save lives before the completion of the on going construction work”. He said.
Also speaking, Assistant Chief Resident Engineer, Federal Capital Development Authority, Abdulkadir Musa explained that construction of a permanent solution to the slip road was ongoing.
“The project is massive and capital intensive. There is a bridge on this axis. All this closing and reopening of the slip road is a temporary measure during the rainy season to save lives”.
Recall that heavy floods in 2019 claimed the life of Director of finance, FCT High Court, Mr Tony Okwechime.
