Ag. Director General of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Emergency Management Department FEMD, Engineer Abdulrahman Mohammed has pledged to consolidate on the existing relationship with the FCT Fire Service to tackle emergencies in the Territory.
Nkechi Isa, FEMD’s Head of Public Affairs disclosed this in a statement.
He said this when he hosted the Acting Director of the FCT Fire Service, Mr Zacheus Adebayo at the conference room of FEMD.
Engr Abdulrahman said that inter-agency collaboration was key in tackling disasters and emergencies in the FCT.
He charged the FCT Fire Service to ensure that facilities in the Fire School at Sheda was in top condition for training of firemen.
Abdulrahman called for more synergy between both agencies for the sustainable development of the FCT.
Also speaking the Ag. Director Admin, Mr Azeez Kadiri called for basic fire fighting drills for FEMD staff as well as risk assessment of the Department’s corporate office.
Mr Zacheus Adebayo identified training and lack of awareness as factors hindering safety management in the country.
Mr Adebayo called for collective effort to address the issue.
