The National Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Pensioners (FCSP), Mr Sunday Omezi, has commended the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) management it programmes aimed at improving pensioners’ welfare.

Omezi at a news conference on Friday in Abuja disassociated the association from recent publication against the directorate.

He said that PTAD under the leadership of Mrs Chioma Ejikeme, the Executive Secretary, has achieved a lot of progress, including the “I am Alive” initiative, among others.

“We must say that the reappointment of the second tenure of Ejikeme is a well-deserved one, in view of her track record in the administration of pension.

“This is culminated in the prompt payment of monthly pensions, payment of pension arrears, landmark innovations that has eased the process of pension management.

“The overall improvement of pensioners’ welfare, such as the “I am Alive” initiative which is aimed at determining the legibility of pensioners, as well as curtailing payment to deceased pensioners.

“This has prevented the menace of ghost pensioners, which had previously incurred heavy financial losses to the government,” Omezi said.

He said that the FCSP are major stakeholder under the purview of PTAD and are not party to any publication or the issues raised.

“It is also imperative at this juncture to let the authorities and public know that the few individuals responsible for the said publication are speaking for themselves alone and not for the generality of the pensioners as they claimed.

“They neither have the mandate of the pensioners, and not representing the pensioners at whatever capacity.

“They are merely serving their selfish interest, and acting on the figment of their imagination, as they may not be able to substantiate all the allegations peddled in the said publication.

“In this vein therefore, the entire membership of the FCSP hereby dissociates herself from the said publication, as it appears to have a taste of fabrications, falsehood, frivolities and mischief,” Omezi said.

The national chairman said that though there still some challenges, room for more improvement is always prevalent in any human endeavour.

Omezi said that the achievements made so far are very visible, while hoping that her second tenure would consolidate and complement the success so far achieved.

He commended President Bola Tinubu for the reappointment of Ejikeme.
