FCCPC Conducts Enforcement Action Against Fabsi Table Water, Begins Investigation

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) on Friday, initiated an enforcement action against Fabsi Table Water in Kubwa, Abuja.

This was following a consumer complaint alleging consumption of expired sachet water containing microbes.

A subsequent investigation uncovered significant violations of consumer protection regulations.

Fabsi Table Water failed to provide crucial product information, including production dates, expiration dates, and batch numbers.

Moreover, the company lacked essential compliance records necessary to ensure product safety and quality.

Fabsi Table Water claimed a two-month shelf life for its products, yet the absence of production and expiration dates renders this claim unverifiable.

The company attributed the omission of this critical information to printing challenges, a claim the FCCPC deemed unacceptable.

According to the FCCPC, accurate and complete product labeling is a fundamental requirement under applicable regulations.

The FCCPC has temporarily suspended operations at the Fabsi Table Water production facility and summoned the company’s management for further investigation.
