Again, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has been recognized for his unwavering commitment to the fight against economic and financial crimes.

Dele Oyewale EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity disclosed this in a statement signed on Friday.

The EFCC Boss was conferred with the prestigious Award of Excellence by the National Association of Judiciary Correspondents, NAJUC, Lagos branch.

The Award was presented to the anti-graft czar during the 16th annual lecture of the Association with the theme: “Judicial Reforms: Strengthening the Administration of Justice in Nigeria through Technology, International Best Practices, Media, and Public Feedback Partners” on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

Olukoyede, who was represented by the Chief of Staff to the Commission, CE Michael Nzekwe, noted that the Award was both a morale booster and a validation of the Commission’s tireless efforts in confronting corruption.

He said: “The fight against corruption is not only arduous, but demands exceptional courage, resilience, and consistency. Any recognition, such as the one we have been honoured with today, is a powerful encouragement and helps renew our resolve.”

He also commended journalists, particularly judiciary correspondents, for their growing role in the national anti-corruption campaign, adding that: “The media’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and justice cannot be overstated. Your dedication to amplifying voices of integrity and exposing wrongdoing makes you a critical stakeholder in this fight,” he added.

Olukoyede, who expressed profound gratitude to the organisers of the award, further urged the media to continue to support anti-corruption initiatives.

“Let us work together to build a Nigeria where honesty is celebrated, and impunity has no place.

“The EFCC remains steadfast in its mission to investigate, prosecute, and prevent economic and financial crimes, while promoting integrity and the rule of law across all facets of Nigerian society,” he added.

The EFCC Chairman reiterated that corruption “is corrosive, and can diminish national dignity and economic development”.

Olukoyede also used the opportunity to call for sustained collaboration among all sectors of society, including government institutions, civil society, the private sector, and the media.

According to him: “We must recognize that corruption chips away at the very fabric of our nation. The fight against it requires a unified front. Only through consistent collaboration can we truly make progress.”
