The Ministry of Petroleum Resources on Thursday, ended its 3-day Oil and Gas Sector Retreat with an unwavering commitment to implement the Ministerial Deliverables set for the Ministry and its Agencies by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in November, 2023.

The retreat themed: “Building Synergy for the Enhanced Development in the Oil and Gas Sector”, started on Tuesday, 26th, and ended on Thursday, in Abuja.

    Oluwakemi Ogunmakinwa (Mrs)., the
Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations in the Ministry revealed this in a statement signed on Thursday.

Following Tuesday’s keynote addresses by the two Ministers of State Petroleum Resources (Oil and Gas), Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, and Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo respectively, Wednesday and Thursday witnessed robust brainstorming syndicate sessions on topical industry issues by experts in the Ministry and the various Agencies within its purview, all aimed at developing the oil and gas sector.

In his closing remarks on Thursday, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Amb. Nicholas Agbo Ella, said the gathering had epitomized collaboration, expertise, and a shared dedication to ushering in transformative change within Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

“As we conclude this retreat, let us look to the future with optimism and determination. Our deliberations have laid the groundwork for tangible progress and sustainable development within the oil and gas sector”, the Permanent Secretary noted.

He expressed confidence that continued collaboration, innovation, and strategic focus would ensure the realization of the shared vision of a thriving and resilient industry that drives economic growth, enhances energy security, and fosters social prosperity for all Nigerians.

“Fundamentally, what we are all looking at is the prosperity of the average Nigerian on the street. If we have enough production of crude and of gas that can serve the generality of Nigerians, there will be social cohesion, economic development and there will be peace in our country.

“Looking ahead, I anticipate that the implementation of the Ministerial Deliverables will yield significant dividends”, he posited.

For their Human Capital Development and training needs, the Permanent Secretary implored the Ministry and her Agencies to patronize the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) ,one of the Agencies under the Ministry in Efurun, Delta State.

Ella also conveyed the appreciation of the Ministers of State who were unavoidably absent at the closing ceremony due to other pressing official engagements to all that made the retreat a success.
