    At Governors’ Forum: Chief Of Defence Staff Seeks Unity For Lake Chad Basin To Prosper

    The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa on Wednesday, addressed the 5th meeting of the Lake Chad Basin Governors Forum in Maiduguri.

    The CDS called for Unity of purpose amongst the leaders and other critical actors to allow the lake Chad region to flourish.

    Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau disclosed this in a statement signed on Wednesday.

    The CDS said he was at the meeting to further appreciate members for the support extended to the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the Multi National Joint Task Force.

    General Musa described the meeting of the governors as timely.

    The CDS pledged to do more in order to restore lasting peace in the Lake Chad Basin.

    He gave further assurance of the commitment of the Armed Forces to assist the governors to fully address security problems in the region.

    Speaking further, the Nigeria Defence Chief said that he wished to see the Internally Displaced Persons returned to their homes and called for the fusion of the Kinetic and non- kinetic campaigns to winning the war against criminalities in the region so as to achieve appreciable result.

    He called on all leaders of the region at all level to work in harmony in order to salvage security challenges.

    Present at the occassion were; Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governors of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa as well as Governors from Niger Republic, Chad and Cameroun.
