The National leadership of the Action Alliance (AA) led by Chief Barr. Kenneth Udeze has dragged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the Nigeria Police Force, Adekunle Rufai Omoaje and others to FCT High Court Abuja.

Action Alliance National Secretary, Vernimbe A. James disclosed this in a statement signed on Monday.

The Party instituted the suit over an illegal attempt by the Nigeria Police, instigated by one Adekunle Rufai Omoaje (a former member of the party) to arrest, harass, intimidate and to stop the day to day running of the Party’s affairs by the Chief Barr. Kenneth Udeze-led leadership of the Party.

The fundamental right suit number: FCT/HC/CV/2741/25 filed on 17th day of July, 2025 listed parties:
    1. Chief Kenneth Udeze-National Chairman (AA)
    2. Vernimbe A. James-National Secretary (AA)
    3. Ekeng Effiom Effiom-National Treasurer (AA)
    4. Alhaji Ali Abacha-National Financial Secretary (AA)
    5. Barr. Emeka Anukwuem-National Legal Adviser (AA)
    6. Action Alliance (AA) all as Applicants And

    1. Nigeria Police Force
    2. Inspector General of Police
    3. Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja
    4. ACP Yakubu Sule
    5. Adekunle Rufai Omoaje
    6. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

    All as the respondents

The fundamental right suit seeks declaration as well as injunctive reliefs against the Respondents based on the Illegal attempt by the respondents to interfere with the internal party affairs as it regards to the leadership and management of the affairs of the Actin Alliance (AA) over which they lack the statutory powers to interfere with.

The statement reads: “The applicants in the pending suit led by Chief Barr. Kenneth Udeze through our Counsel, Peters Ugwuoke, Esq. has written a letter to the Nigerian Police Force, dated 18th July, 2025 notifying the Police of the pending suit and urgent need to maintain STATUS QUO ANTE and stop further invitation, interrogation and or harassment of Chief Barr. Kenneth Udeze and other NEC members of the Party pending the hearing and determination of the fundamental right suit pending before the Court.

“Based on the foregoing, Chief Barr. Kenneth Udeze and other NEC members of the Action Alliance will not honor any Police invitation in respect of Action Alliance Leadership pending the hearing and determination of the fundamental right suit pending before the court and demand the Nigeria Police to stop all actions on further invitation, interrogation and or harassment of the applicants.

“Failure of the Police to stop further actions on invitation, arrest, interrogation and or harassment of Chief Barr. Kenneth Udeze and other NEC members of the party who are the applicants in the pending fundamental right suit will amount to self-help and an affront to the judicial process and majesty of the court, for any party, security agency or authority to proceed to do anything touching the subject matter until the court makes judicial pronouncement on the suit.

“After several unsuccessful attempt to illegally take the leadership of the party by One Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, losing all the decided cases at FCT High Court, Federal High Courts and Court of Appeal Abuja Division including the recent dismissal by the supreme court in favour of Chief Barr. Kenneth Udeze Led National Leadership of the party, Adekunle Rufai Omoaje now resulted to self-help by using the Nigerian Police to interfere in the affairs of our party with ulterior motive to stop the operation of the day to day running of the party led by Chief Barr. Kenneth Udeze.

“It is against this background that the leadership of the party led by Chief Barr. Kenneth Udeze invited the Judiciary to put a stop to this unnecessary and unwarranted madness by Rufai Omoaje and cohorts”.
