Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede has called for positive peer review and accountability among students across the country in order to promote positive change and bolster the fight against economic and financial crimes and other acts of corruption.

This was contained in a statement signed on Thursday by EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.

Olukoyede made the call in Abuja recently during an appraisal visit to members of the Integrity Club at Glisten International Academy.

Deputy Director and Spokesperson of the Commission, Dele Oyewale, who spoke for the EFCC’s boss, addressed the Club members.

He urged the students to keep one another in check as fostering a culture of mutual accountability and positive influence are keys to preventing and addressing the evils of corruption in the society.

“There is a need for you to build synergy and strength through peer review of your engagements, especially on the issue of integrity.

“Try to build a positive influence on your friends and classmates. If your friends are doing wrong things, advise them against such.

“Build synergy against corruption through positive influence,” he said.

Head, Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit of the Public Affairs Department and Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE II Aisha Muhammed commended the Integrity Club members of the school for their dedication and commitment to the club.

She called for their greater support adding that the fight against corruption required collective efforts, especially from the young ones who, according to her, are key stakeholders in the fight against corruption.

“You have been doing well. Please, we are counting on you to give us more support.

“Being an Integrity Club member, you are not just representing the EFCC, you’re also representing your families and communities.

“Keep being the good ambassadors that you are, live up to your responsibilities as foot soldiers of the Commission. We’re always here for you to engage you and never forget that you are the future,” she said.

She assured the students of regular visits to their school, stating that the young ones are of utmost priority to the Commission.

Inspector of the EFCC, IEI Eniola Kayode, a cybercrime expert, who spoke to the students on ‘How to Stay Safe Online With Focus on Society”, pointed out that internet crimes come in different forms and are carried out mostly among the youths.

She advised the students to be mindful of their activities on the internet and use of their phones.
