Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed has expressed gratitude to stakeholders including the Aliko Dangote Foundation for enabling Bauchi’s emergence as runner-up at the North-East Leadership Challenge Award 2023.
A visibly excited Governor Mohammed took to his Twitter handle, @SenBalaMohammed to thank other stakeholders such as the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for their collaboration.
The Governor said that the award was “another proof of our outstanding leadership and performance in improving healthcare delivery in Bauchi State.”

At the awards held on Wednesday night at the Presidential Villa during the induction programme for governors-elect, Borno State won first position for being the best performing state in primary health care delivery and received $700,000.
Borno also received an additional $500,000 for being the winner in the North-East zone, with total winnings at $1,200,000.
The Leadership Challenge which recognised winners in various zones across the nation had other winners such as Kwara State in the North-Central zone, Jigawa in the North-West, Ebonyi in the South-East, Rivers in the South-South, and Ondo in the South-West.
The awards aimed to strengthen the Primary Health Care Under One Roof (PHCUOR) policy.
It encourages State governors to increase funding for primary healthcare within their jurisdictions.
