The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Wednesday, said that it facilitated the return back into the country of some 13 Nigerian students who had fled into Saudi Arabia
    from the war in Sudan

A statement signed by NEMA’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Manzo Ezekiel on Wednesday said the students were scheduled to depart Jeddah on Wednesday onboard Qatar Airways and arrive Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on Thursday 18 May 2023.

NEMA said the return of the 13 Nigerian students from Saudi Arabia was part of the evacuation of stranded Nigerian citizens in the war torn Sudan by the Federal Government through NEMA and other relevant Agencies.

The Agency said that the students had fled by using boats through the Red Sea into Saudi Arabia, where they sought the assistance of the Federal Government to be transported back home.

They were profiled by the Nigerian Mission in Saudi Arabia and arrangement for their safe return made by NEMA in line with the Agency’s mandates.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government through NEMA had recently evacuated a total of 2, 518 stranded Nigerian Citizens in Sudan who were airlifted from Port Sudan and Aswan in Egypt.

Here are the names of the 13 Nigerian students expected back home of Thursday: Mannira Buniya, Hadiza Idi,
Naima Mamuda, Hindatu Salmanu, Aminu Ibrahim and Muntari.

Others were Aliya Rabbilu, Muhammad Zubairu, Aisha Sani, Asmau Adamu Dandada, Abdulkadir Lawan Gambo, Suleiman Sani Idris and Mubarak Zakariya.

Recall also that on Sunday, NEMA’s Director General, Mustapha Habib Ahmed at a thanksgiving press conference, announced that the last of the stranded Nigerian citizens in Sudan was airlifted back to the country.
