The Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline project, which is constructed to link the European market, is expected to be operational in 2024.

Minister of State Petroleum Resources, RT. Honourable Ekperikpe Ekpo revealed this on Monday when he received in his office, a delegation of Moroccan envoys led by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Nigeria, H.E Moha Ou Ali Tagma.

The Minister said Nigeria, with its proven 209 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves was ready and interested in the project.

On the fertiliser project, Ekpo said that, with the use of natural gas to boost the fertilizer industry and which would invariably improve agriculture, every aspect of the gas value chain should be exploited.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Nigeria, H.E Moha Ou Ali Tagma said the Gas Pipeline project which started in 2016 would have the technical and economic studies concluded in early 2024.

Apart from the fertiliser plants already inaugurated by OCP Group in Kaduna, Sokoto and Ogun States, the construction of the fertiliser project in Akwa Ibom State would commence in December to increase its investments.
