Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Gilbert Onyekachukwu Ibezim, has extended the appreciation of the Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo and the people of Anambra State to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the recent interventions embarked upon by the Federal Government through the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) in Anambra state .
The Deputy Governor made the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Habib Ahmed.
The primary focus of their discussion was to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government which has been assisting the State through NEMA and also to strategize on flood preparedness and response in Anambra State.
During the meeting, Deputy Governor Ibezim and NEMA’s Director General, Ahmed exchanged insights on the flood-prone areas in Anambra State and the potential risks associated with the rainy season.
The leaders discussed the importance of proactive measures to mitigate flood-related disasters, protect lives, and safeguard property.
The discussion also touched on the collaboration between the Anambra State government and NEMA in the deployment of resources, personnel, and equipment for effective flood response.
Both leaders emphasized the need for a well-coordinated approach, early warning systems, and community engagement to enhance disaster preparedness and management in the State.
The courtesy visit underscored the significance of inter-agency cooperation and forward planning to address the recurrent challenges posed by flooding in Anambra State.
Deputy Governor Ibezim and Director General Ahmed expressed their commitment to working closely to ensure the safety and resilience of the State’s communities during the flood season.
NEMA’s Director General, Mustapha Habib Ahmed thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the interventions and Vice President Kashim Shettima for always supporting the Agency.
