I wish to express my profound gratitude to the good people of Kebbi State for the overwhelming support, solidarity and warm reception accorded to His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and the leadership of our great party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), during the presidential campaign flag-off held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, in Birnin Kebbi.
The massive turnout and enthusiasm demonstrated by our people were deeply encouraging and reaffirm our collective determination to pursue a better future for Kebbi State and Nigeria.
I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, for his leadership, courage and unwavering commitment to national renewal.
I equally acknowledge the National Chairman, Senator David Mark, the entire national leadership of the ADC, our state leadership, party executives, campaign coordinators, supporters and volunteers whose sacrifices contributed to the success of the event.
Our message remains clear: we are committed to building a Nigeria that is affordable, safe and secure for all. As reiterated by Atiku Abubakar, our priorities include addressing the burden of fuel costs, tackling insecurity and creating employment opportunities.
In Kebbi, my commitment remains to agricultural transformation, quality education, accessible healthcare, youth empowerment, security, local government autonomy and accountable governance.
CONDEMNATION OF INTIMIDATION AND ATTACKS ON DEMOCRATIC FREEDOMS
While celebrating the overwhelming solidarity of our people, I strongly condemn the unfortunate incidents of intimidation, harassment and violence that accompanied the campaign activities.
I am particularly concerned by reports of attacks by political thugs on members of our campaign convoy, the destruction of media equipment and the reported deployment of tear gas around areas occupied by members of the visiting delegation.
Any involvement of government institutions or security agencies in such actions is unacceptable and must be investigated.
I also unequivocally condemn the demolition of the Malami Pressure Group (MPG) headquarters along Sani Abacha Bypass, Birnin Kebbi. The circumstances surrounding this incident are deeply troubling and warrant an impartial investigation.
The state government’s denial of involvement and its attribution of the demolition to a private ownership dispute do not remove the need for transparency and accountability.
Political disagreement must never become an excuse for intimidation, destruction of property or suppression of lawful opposition.
Our Constitution guarantees freedom of expression, association and peaceful assembly, and these rights must be respected by every government.
KEBBI DESERVES SECURITY, OPPORTUNITY AND RESPONSIBLE GOVERNANCE
Our state continues to confront serious challenges, including banditry, displacement, poverty, food insecurity and disruption of agricultural activities.
NEMA’s humanitarian intervention in March 2026 for victims of banditry in Shanga, Yauri and Bunza underscores the difficult realities confronting our communities.
These are not challenges that should be politicised or ignored. Our farmers deserve protection, our children deserve quality education, our families deserve affordable food and our young people deserve opportunities to earn a decent living.
Rather than intimidate political opponents, the government must concentrate its resources and attention on addressing these urgent concerns.
I therefore call on the Kebbi State Government, security agencies and all political actors to respect democratic principles, refrain from actions capable of provoking violence and guarantee every citizen the freedom to participate in the political process.
I urge our supporters to remain peaceful, disciplined and law-abiding. Our commitment to democratic change must be demonstrated through responsible political engagement and respect for the rule of law.
Once again, I thank the good people of Kebbi State for their confidence, solidarity and overwhelming support.
I remain resolute in my commitment to a Kebbi State and a Nigeria where justice, security, opportunity and prosperity are accessible to all.
The people’s democratic rights are sacred, and no political authority should stand in the way of their exercise.
Signed:
Mohammed Bello Doka,
Special Assistant on Media to Abubakar Malami SAN.
ADC Governorship Candidate,
Kebbi State
