The Acting Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Benue State Chapter, Rev. Jonathan Terwase Ugbede, has rated Governor Hyacinth Alia high for his commitment to the Benue project and his firm support for the Benue Church.
Ugbede stated this at the weekend,during his 60th birthday celebration at the CAN Secretariat in Makurdi.
He said Governor Alia has remained committed to serving the state and has continued to support the Church in various ways, which has endeared him to the Benue people.
According to the Acting CAN Chairman,the Governor has been supporting the church and Christians to enable them make meaningful contributions to the society, the church and to members.
Ugbede called on the Christian community in the state to intensify their prayers and support for the Governor to enable him achieve more for the benefit of the Benue people.
He further emphasized that during the last interdenominational church service to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence at Faith Hill Prophetic Assembly at Demekpe, Makurdi, where he appealed for support for their church project when the Governor had travelled, acknowledged that when the Governor eventually heard of the appeal, he released N20 million for the project.
“And this is what the Governor has been doing for the Church,” he said.
The Acting CAN Chairman told the crowd that God has been faithful to him in his 60 years of age, pointing out that God has also intervened in the health challenge of his wife which has continued to improve.
Other speakers at the ceremony including the former CAN Chairman in the state, Archbishop Yiman Orkwar and the immediate past CAN Chairman, Rev. Akpen Leva, appreciated him and encouraged him to continue to serve God with commitment as God would also reward him.
In an exhortation, Rev. Orshio urged Christians to appreciate God for His goodness, insisting that at 60, the Acting Chairman has only answered a call from God to do more.
