The leadership of the Action Alliance party has said that the 2027 election cannot be credible if INEC continues to recognize as candidate of AA, Mr Rufai Adekunke Omo’Aje a man who is currently working for the Social Democratic Party, (SDP).
In a statement signed on Tuesday by the National Chairman, Chief Kenneth Udeze, the Action Alliance called on INEC to immediately delist Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje as Action Alliance Presidential Candidate who has by his own action disqualified himself.
The Action Alliance therefore urged INEC to publish and recognize the authentic Presidential Candidate of Action Alliance, Mr. Joseph Oluwadare Fadojoe who emerged from a legitimate, primary conducted by the Court of Appeal-affirmed leadership of Chief Kenneth Udeze.
Here’s a full text of the statement:
“The attention of the authentic leadership of the Action Alliance (AA) under Chief Barr. Kenneth Udeze has been drawn to a laughable and shameful fact that further exposes the illegality INEC is perpetrating.
“It is very funny and indeed scandalous that the man INEC is parading as the Presidential Candidate of the Action Alliance, Mr. Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje who is indeed NOT recognized by the authentic AA, is at the same time the South-West Coordinator for the Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
We ask Nigerians and the international community:
1. How can a man be a Presidential Candidate of AA and at the same time be coordinating another party’s presidential campaign? Is this not anti-party and a clear case of a political mercenary?
2. Does this not confirm that Omo-Aje and his co-travellers have no party and no platform, and are merely political jobbers being used to destabilize AA?
3. How can INEC, under Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, claim to be neutral and transparent when the candidate it illegally recognizes on its list has openly abandoned AA to work for SDP?
“This single fact has completely ridiculed INEC and confirmed our earlier position that INEC’s list for AA is a product of fraud, bias and partisanship.
“A man who cannot even defend his own purported candidacy but is busy coordinating another party’s candidate cannot be said to be a candidate of Action Alliance. He is at best an agent of SDP smuggled into AA by enemies of our democracy.
We therefore demand:
a) INEC must immediately delist Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje as AA Presidential Candidate. He has by his own action disqualified himself.
b) INEC must publish and recognize the authentic Presidential Candidate of Action Alliance — Mr. Joseph Oluwadare Fadojoe — who emerged from a legitimate, primary conducted by the Court of Appeal-affirmed leadership of Chief Kenneth Udeze.
c) Prof. Amupitan must save INEC from this public embarrassment. You cannot conduct a World Press Conference on 2027 elections while harboring such illegality.
“The 2027 election cannot be credible if INEC continues to recognize a man who is working for another party as our candidate. This is not just funny, it is dangerous to democracy.”
