The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has mourned the military personnel who died in the crash involving NAF 931.
General Musa described them as officers and airmen who exemplified the highest standards of military professionalism, loyalty and commitment to the defence of Nigeria.
In a statement, Musa said the deceased personnel were on a routine flight mission when the aircraft crashed.
He described the victims as “brave officers and airmen,” who served the nation with courage, devotion and selfless patriotism, adding that their death was an irreparable loss to the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the country.
“These fine officers and men exemplify the highest standards of military professionalism, loyalty, and commitment to the defence of our Fatherland,” Musa said.
He extended condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leadership of the Armed Forces, as well as the families, loved ones and colleagues of the fallen personnel.
Musa also commiserated with the families of civilians who were on board the ill-fated aircraft, assuring them that the government and the military shared in their grief.
The minister disclosed that a comprehensive investigation had been ordered to determine the cause of the crash, with a view to reinforcing operational safety protocols across military aviation units.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for God to grant their families, the military community and Nigerians the strength to bear the loss.
