The Federal government has expressed its readiness to showcase Nigeria’s inherent investment opportunities for the mutual benefits of Nigeria and Japan at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai in Japan.
Edet E Etuk revealed this in a statement signed on behalf of the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations on Wednesday.
Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Evelyn Ngige said this recently during a courtesy call by the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria and representative to ECOWAS, H.E. Matsunaga Kazuyoshi to the Ministry in Abuja.
Dr. Ngige said that Nigeria would continue to strengthen partnership with Japanese Investors and take advantage of the Expo 2025 Osaka, to showcase the enormous investment opportunities in Nigeria.
The meeting focused on Nigeria’s preparation for the event and provided the platform for the Ministry to explore avenues in ensuring that the right choice that reflecting the current economic realities was made.
The Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Matsunaga Kazuyoshi said the Expo 2025 Osaka was expected to provide opportunities for Japanese companies to find solution to some of the social problems in Nigeria.
He added that the forum would also present an opportunity for Nigeria to identify areas in which assistance was required.
The Japanese Ambassador said Japanese companies would like to install solar power in rural areas in Nigeria to enhance the supply of portable water and power Agriculture.
Other areas of interest are provision of portable x-ray machines and e-medical records to promote long-distance medical services.
The Japanese Envoy further disclosed that there are 51 Japanese companies currently doing business in Nigeria while there are 150 Japanese living in the country.
He therefore said that the his Government was planning to extend a formal invitation to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to attend the Expo 2025 Osaka.
