The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) hosted a high-level delegation from the Body of Bank Chief Executive Officers in Nigeria at the NPF-NCCC Headquarters, Abuja.

    Ag. ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, the
Force Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement signed on Thursday.

The visit was aimed at strengthening strategic collaboration in the ongoing fight against cybercrime and financial crimes in Nigeria.

The Director of the Centre, CP Ifeanyi Uche Henry, reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre to combating cybercrime both nationally and internationally, through proactive intelligence-driven policing, digital forensics, and strategic partnerships.

CP Uche further highlighted the core mandates of the Centre, which include:
    • Investigation and support for the prosecution of cybercrime cases
    • Digital forensic examination and analysis
    • Social media monitoring and cyber intelligence gathering
    • Intelligence analysis and cyber threat assessment
    • Vulnerability assessment and protection of Nigeria’s Critical Information Infrastructure

He stressed that effective collaboration with financial institutions remains critical in addressing cybercrime, noting that financial systems are often exploited as channels for cybercriminal activities.

Head of the delegation, Mr. Nixon Iwedi, ACIB, Chairman, Body of Bank Chief Executive Officers in Nigeria, and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Signature Bank, stated that the visit was a follow-up to earlier engagements with the Inspector-General of Police in Lagos, aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and the banking sector in tackling cybercrime and financial fraud.

He commended the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the NPF-NCCC, for its professionalism, resilience, and sustained efforts in combating cybercriminal activities within Nigeria and across international borders.
