The Nigerian Air Force, (NAF), has said there was no cause for alarm as the  colourful and peaceful aerial airplane display with fireworks to be held on Friday evening in Enugu was part of ongoing activities for its  59th anniversary celebration.

NAF therefore, urged residents of Enugu and neighbouring communities not to panic when they see the aerial airplane displays.

Air Commodore Chukwuedo Illoh, the Chairman, Organising Committee for NAF 59th Anniversary Celebration said this in a statement signed in Enugu on Thursday.

The NAF 59th anniversary celebration was tagged: “Enugu 2023”.

He urged Enugu residents not to panic or fear when they sight an aerial airplane display with fireworks on Friday, May 5, 2023.

Illoh assured that the aerial display exercise would be done at the evening hours of between 6.30pm and 7.00pm according to the highest safety standards.

The Organizing Committee Chairman said: “As part of activities marking the 59th Anniversary Celebration of the Nigerian Air Force in Enugu, on Friday 5 May 2023, there will be an aerial display by the Global Star Aerobatics Team from 6:30pm to 7pm.

“During the aerial display, aircrafts will deploy some fireworks as a mark of the celebration.

“The Nigerian Air Force wishes to inform the general public, particularly those residing in Enugu, that the aerial display is a normal ceremonial exercise and nothing to fear.

“Members of the public are therefore urged to go about their routine daily activities”.
