Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, (FMITI), Ambassador Nura Abba Rimi has urged the Nigerian workforce to continue delivering exceptional service to the nation.

    Adebayo Lawrence Thomas, the
Director of Press and Public Relations In the FMITI disclosed this in a statement signed on Wednesday.

Speaking at the 2024 Global Customer Service Week celebration in Abuja, Amb. Rimi emphasized the importance of recognizing and rewarding employees whose outstanding contributions have significantly boosted the country’s fortunes.

Represented by Mrs Anietie Umoessien, Director, Industrial Dev Department, Amb. Rimi highlighted the theme of this year’s celebration, “Above and Beyond,” as a testament to the dedication and exceptional efforts of the Nigerian workforce.

He said that the theme underscored a commitment to excellence, encouraging employees to go the extra mile to meet and exceed customer expectations.

The Perm Sec said: “Customer Service Week, celebrated globally from October 7th to 11th, is a time to honour and reward employees for their excellent services across various sectors.

“The dedication and services of our workforce are crucial to national development, and this is equally true for Nigeria.”

National Coordinator and CEO of SERVICOM Presidency, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, also spoke at the event.

Akajemeli emphasized the importance of celebrating frontline staff and boosting morale within government ministries, departments, and agencies.

She said: “It is time to celebrate our front liners who sacrifice to bring services to everyone. They help to connect with the people”.

Mrs Akajemeli praised the theme: “Above and Beyond,” noting that it reflects the administration’s commitment to honouring hard work and dedication.

She said: “By celebrating our workforce under the renewed hope agenda, President Tinubu’s administration is setting a benchmark for exceptional customer service.

“Every effort to exceed expectations contributes to a better, more positive experience for everyone involved.”

She highlighted that going above and beyond often involves innovative thinking and creative solutions, and said that celebrating those who consistently go above and beyond fosters a culture of recognition and appreciation.

It motivates employees to continue striving for excellence and sets a standard for others to follow.”

The event also featured discussions on the significance of the celebration colour, navy blue, which symbolizes trust, dependability, confidence, power, and elegance.

“Navy blue gives us a sense of security and calm, and it is associated with the navy and sailors of a nation,” Mrs Akajemeli added.

The 2024 Global Customer Service Week celebration in Abuja has set a high standard for recognizing and rewarding the exceptional efforts of the Nigerian workforce, reinforcing the importance of quality service delivery in national development.
